Saint Clare and Her Commitment to Franciscan Poverty

Saint Clare of Assisi followed Saint Francis because she wanted to live a life of true poverty and simplicity. Even when urged to accept possessions, she firmly defended the “Form of Life” given to her by Francis and remained faithful to Gospel poverty. As leader of her sisters, Clare guided the Order with humility, seeking advice when needed and showing that living the Franciscan way requires courage, faithfulness, and trust in God.
